Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Well my name is Adam I go by (Troubadour) Trubdr. Adam Road. The project is my solo work but I have a full time band mate Sam Mendel who plays bass and acoustic guitar...and is a songwriter himself.
Although the idea is to give the moniker "TRUBDR" to other singer song writers making it more of a "A$AP MOB" crew but for troubadours (traveling composers and story tellers)
For starters, what bands were you a part of prior to your current project? How long has the band been around?
I started a band called city of the sun once upon a time. I'm 28 years old.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the name before?
-Troubadours were traveling musicians or songwriters back in the day (11th-13th century) They would write about love but also tell stories of the people to the royalty and stories of the royalty to the people... essentially it was one of the ways people got the news back in the day...
....People just kept calling me it ...so it stuck when I finally decided to look it up and realized that it fit.
...I change my name all the time it's always nice to make a new you
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I write my songs ... as far as themes they vary. I saw a video once where Bob Dylan asked the news conference he was attending... "What everyone wanted from him?" ...and ended the question with a statement "I'm just a story teller" .... that stuck with me. I felt after I heard that , that it's just my job to tell stories ... and to be as true as I can to those stories no matter what medium
I choose to tell them with ...be it the medium of songwriting, poetry, painting or film like the music video ... but telling stories with song is really about finding the right notes rhythms and melody that fit but also the right intention and feeling in yourself .... I think that stuff always sticks... but songs don't change we do.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
glass animals
Anderson paak
Jcole
The whole r&b rock n roll scene in Israel the guys from "le blues and booze" and "The Paz Band" and "Tamir Grinberg" as well as lots of mid-eastern influences I found while I was there in TLV like A-WA and Malabi Tropical.
The folk scene there to like my friend Alon Wasserman from "The waterman project"....speaking of Dylan ...this guy.
Lauren Ruth ward is the best thing that's happened to rock music in a hot minute
And try I to listen to bands we are playing with ...The Jacks from the OC are fun as hell to play with and to listen to and they are probably best looking band I've seen ...maybe ever lol ... and I'm straight...
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Dave Matthews ... he just gets on stage and plays every kind of live music there is and has a great time and everyone on stage is great ... that's the dream to have a stage full of musicians and people you love that are all flowing in and out of musical structures on the fly everyone getting the chance to express themselves musically but still playing songs the audience can sing and dance to.... not losing the story aspect of it but gaining the freedom of speech within the context of the story is where I think my soul is.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
I sing as many HOZIER songs As I can remember in a hot shower... his songs are so dynamic I get to feel out my whole voice and I stretch and do yoga ... breath control is key to singing and life in general.
What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
I am a street musician and after a while of preforming live for people and getting feed back in realtime from a real audience on a street or in clubs ...I think you start seeing how your music can be a highlight to a friend or even strangers day or week or more .... the fact that my life is to highlight others is the highlight ...I'm just grateful that this is part of my journey on earth.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
I'd love to tour with J.cole I really align with what he saying and I think that's what artists need to be looking to tour with not the bands or artists who aligns with their sound but more their sentiment.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
LET THE MUSIC LIVE YALL!
